What are your hours of operation? The Civil Process Office is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What is your business and mailing address? The Civil Process Office is located at 2015 Washington Street, Braintree and receives mail via P.O. Box 859215, Braintree, MA 02185

What forms of payment do you accept? You may use your VISA, Master Card or obtain a certified bank check or money order. We do not accept cash or personal checks. Attorney clients will be invoiced at the completion of the service.

I have paperwork regarding a criminal matter that needs to be served. Can the Civil Process Office serve it? The Norfolk County Civil Process Office serves paperwork in civil actions and your local police department would be able to point you in the correct direction for criminal services.

Can the Norfolk County Civil Process Office serve paperwork outside Norfolk County? Norfolk County Deputy Sheriffs can serve the towns and city within Norfolk County only. We would be happy to help you locate the County Deputy Sheriff's Office that can serve your legal service.

Does Capias mean physical arrest? The Norfolk County Civil Process Office performs Capias services by first attempting to arrange a court date with the defendant before physically arresting the defendant. The Deputy Sheriff gives the defendant three (3) opportunities to appear in court on their own. The physical arrest is the last resort as it is more costly and takes longer to effectuate.

How long will it take to have my legal service served? The turn-around time is approximately 3-4 business days. All mail received is processed and turned over to the Deputy Sheriff for service the same day.

Do I need to send copies of my paperwork? Yes! Please send two copies of your original paperwork.

Do I need to send the original capias, summons, execution or other court documents? Yes, you must sent the original capias, summons or execution with the court's seal. The original will be mailed back you, not the court, when service is complete.

How can I stop/recall my service of a capias, execution or summons? You may fax a cover letter instructing the Civil Process Office to cancel the service. Our fax number is 781-326-0288.
