Norfolk County Deputy Sheriffs have completed the Reserve/Intermittent Police Officer Training through the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council and are required to complete regular in service training on civil process related matters. As a result, our Deputy Sheriffs are trained to serve your important documents with accuracy and efficiency.

Unlike constables, Norfolk County Deputy Sheriffs are not restricted in the types of process they can serve. Chapter 41, Sec. 91 through Sec. 95 of the Massachusetts General Laws restricts constables specifically to serving process and writs only in cases where damages sought are $2,500 or less. Improper service can result in a vacated judgment or default.

You may reach a Deputy Sheriff at the Civil Process Office’s main number 781-326-1787 using the extension stated below or their cell phone.
